8/27/2010 - I'm a going to Boston!

And I even have the opportunity to spend my time in a hotel with two women!

(Longest e-mail ever from her Blackberry, and she sent it to the wrong person. FAIL!)

Asked them to send me some photos so I can see what they look like...

Spoke with my sister today and they are all booked for boston.

Jillian checked into hotels and she can only get a $39 one that is way outside the city and is a $70 cab ride from the airport.

She can get this hotel which is 2 miles from downtown, walking distance to the T, and has a free 24hr airport shuttle. We also get free, hot order breakfast each morning. The rooms are 2 room suites with two beds and a living room with pull out couch. We would share a room and they would get a 2nd room. Price for us thru Jillian is $189 per night.

The Courtyard I looked into was $229 per night and included NO breakfast.

Let me know if you are ok with this hotel. I thinks its a good option with lots of room for a good price.

Lee and Mike - are u staying with friends? We have room if not.

Kristen

Mike and I will be staying with our friends, so no need to worry about squeezing us in.

Embassy Suites are usually nice, and you're right, they always have plenty of space and free breakfast.

Just so you're aware, the Embassy Suites is further away from BC, so you're going to lose some of that savings in travel expenses. But if you're ok with that, then I say book it.

I'll do some research on the party bus tomorrow.

Yeah, I just looked and the Embassy Suites is out near the airport. I just found the Boston Hotel Buckminster at around $200/night. It looks a little older but is out near Fenway and seems like it could be in a fun location. I really don't know much about the city to know what is a good area and what is not but is near the airport where we want to be? Which Courtyard were you looking at?

As for the party bus idea, continue looking into it, but my initial thought is that it might be a bit much. We will also have to find a parking spot which could be very challenging. I don't think we should book anything unless we have parking squared away. Is the consensus that we don't want to take public transportation?

Anyway, thats my input.

Bri

Here are my votes:

1. Embassy Suites since Jillian can get us a GREAT rate
2. If said party bus is not overly expensive for our total group, then we move forward with it once we get a handle on parking. This will be our 3rd time to BC and I would hope we have learned our lesson with how insane public transportation is---a buzz kill if you will---on game days and not to mention means that we are dropped where the stadium is with out any tailgating supplies. All will be determined on the price so we shall see...

Kristen and I will also research parking this weekend.

Ditto Tara's comments on the party bus. The T is the world's slowest subway/metro, BC is a real hike, and not having tailgating supplies sucks. All reasons to look at other options.

I told Tara and Kristen, but if the chauffeured van ends up being really expensive (I'm looking at rates now), then I'm going to look into renting an SUV from a rental car company as a cheaper alternative. We might not be able to fit everybody, but we'd at least have a tailgate vehicle.

As for the hotel, Fenway is a good/fun area, and it's close to downtown and closer to BC. This is the area of town where we went out as Howie and the suitcase girls. The airport is not a fun area. But, Boston just isn't that big, so if you stay at the airport, its not like you'll be taking a 40 minute cab ride to get to places.

I vote for embassy suites and bus if pricing and parking is ok. Embassy website says its very close to downtown and public transit. Plus free breakfast and airport shuttle.

Jillian reserved it already, but we can cancel if we decide otherwise.
